10.5.2016: Toronto Moon Review
A little review of (disPLAY):
Bringing dynamic lighting and stage presence to complement an exciting guitar-rich sound and provocative lyrics, a combination that resonates traces of David Bowie, the 80s and Brit Pop, but that is passionately and intelligently original... Shepherdson's bubbling, urgent and mind-tingling licks are simply spectacular by anyone's measure. Johannes has a voice that complements it perfectly, by turns pleading, haunting, menacing, enticing, and declarative and always completely mesmerizing.

Teaming up with filmmaker and "fifth member of Paint," R. Stephenson Price (with whom the band previously worked on 11:11/Based on Truth and Lies, and festival-selected "Boomerang"), (disPLAY) was filmed and recorded on October 3, 2014 to a sold-out audience in Paint's hometown Toronto. (disPLAY) captures the band's 90-minute stadium-ready visual and aural onslaught at its most fierce, in front of ambitious stage design, lighting, and video projections.
Paint is honoured to be working with Western Canadian Music Awards Engineer of the Year, Ryan Worsley, at EchoPlant Sound in Coquitlam, BC (whose recent credits include Dear Rouge), and mastering at home in Toronto with Andre Sousa (Geary Ave. Studios).
We are eternally grateful for all of your support in getting this far -- let's continue, together, to make the sky the limit!

1.22.2016: "Shattered Hearts" Music Video
After an almost four-year production on the ambitious 11:11, it seemed like the natural course to take a more grassroots approach on the music video for "Shattered Hearts," the first single from Based on Truth and Lies.
Conceived and directed by Paint, photographed by Joe Mac (with behind-the-scenes photos HERE), and edited by Clarence King.
Dedicated to David Bowie and R. Stephenson Price.

1.12.2016: "Shattered Hearts" music video behind-the-scenes photos
On January 10, before we went home to recieve the news that the legendary David Bowie had passed away, we teamed up with our long-time live photographer Joe Mac to shoot a music video for "Shatterted Hearts," first single off the Based on Truth and Lies EP/soundtrack (from the film 11:11).
The video will be released January 22. In the meantime, check out some on-set photos from Paint's rehearsal space on Paint's Official Flickr Photostream.
On the note of David Bowie, on not one, not two, but three occasions, we paid tribute to The Thin White Duke in concert. He will forever be one of our biggest inspirations. Paint's Robb Johannes had this to say:
"Thank for you giving so many of us (myself included) the strength and permission to not only be ourselves, but anyone we wanted to be."
